Meet the Masters with Kate L. Harrison, Founder & CEO The Green Bride Guide

Are you an eco-conscious couple that wants to wed responsibly? Do you want to plan a stylish green event that will help protect our planet?  Green wedding veteran and environmentalist Kate L. Harrison, founder and CEO The Green Bride Guide, shares creative ideas and smart options that will inspire you to conserve for your wedding and life together.

Kate talks about her own green wedding celebration and why it was so important to design it this way.  In this episode you will learn what makes a product or service âgreenâ plus what sustainable, carbon footprint, organic, fair trade, and greenwashing really mean.  Kate talks about the best green alternatives to consider for your invitation, dress, transportation, reception food, flowers and decor.  She explains why itâs important to communicate your vision clearly to anyone you work with to ensure its success.

A lot of what you read states that a green wedding costs more.  Can couples really save up to 40% in wedding expenses?  Does a green wedding have to be an all or nothing proposition?  How will a couple know that they are working with a bonafide green vendor committed to practices to protect the environment?  How can you let your guests know about the green choices you made?  Whatâs a wedding coop?  How important is having a cleanup plan once the party is over?  Kate answers these questions and more to help you pull off a personal and meaningful green wedding that will make a difference on your special day and always.

Meet the Masters on Location - Flower & Food Design with David Tutera, Ed Libby, Chefs Thomas Preti and Olivier Cheng

Where: New York Showroom Classic Party Rentals where âEvery Event is a Big Eventâ?

Friend and colleague Nancy Swiezy invited us to a special industry event and we want you to be part of the excitement and get inspired with information from pros that have a pulse in the party business. Robert Allen, Executive Producer, takes us behind the scenes at the Classic Party Rentals NYC launch party with top chefs, caterers, & floral dÃcor and event designers. With more than 25 years of experience, Classic Party Rentals is the nationâs leading full service event rental company.

Good-bye cookie cutter dÃcor. Michael Miner, VP Marketing Classic Party Rentals, talks about his philosophy in the world of events and what brides have available to make their occasion great. Then Robert spoke with leading entertaining expert David Tutera. David tells us about his Enchanted Garden table â its color, texture, personality. David says a wedding has to tell a story with the elements of your wedding. Listen and learn about eclectic looks and Davidâs favorite color trend.

Tess Casey of Aisling Studioâs, designed three tables at the event, and talks about the fabrics, color palette and details that feature different themes, unusual elements, and accent ideas. Do you want an element of surprise? Are you trying to be a little green? PLUS Insider Scoop: Tess specializes in camera-ready flowers and works closely with Creative and Art Directors for film and television. She recently worked on the wedding scenes in the Sex and the City movie. She designed the wedding bouquet for Carrie. What flowers did she use? Want to find out the designer of the gown SJP wore? What should a couple know when starting their search for a floral designer? Tess gives her expert advice.

Whatâs the new white? Ed Libby, award winning event designer, presented two tables. The Bling table has sparkle! He has designed for celebrity clients including Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Robert DeNiro, Usher, and Diddy. Edâs best advice: Marry a couplesâ design fantasy with professional expertise so itâs a fun process.

Food is an element of dÃcor and something to talk about. Chefs created culinary delights enjoyed by invited guests. Since founding Thomas Preti Caterers, Inc. over 20 years ago, Chef Thomas Preti has orchestrated thousands of events. Local, organic food is becoming part of the menu today. Current wedding trends in food are discussed with Kelven Book of Canard Inc. Recognizable foods with a twist are starting to be prepared to make it more special, surprising and appetizing. Signature cocktails are here to stay. Interactive food at weddings and social events is a winner. Olivier Cheng created a tasting plate of savory and sweet fois gras, a naked salmon station, and a liquid nitrogen station â cool idea! Are people harder to impress today? Does Olivier welcome the creative challenge? Are you thinking of a cocktail reception only? Olivier tells us that food can evolve at a party.

We end the podcast with Roberta Karsch of Resource One Inc., a custom designed table linen rental company. Learn about unusual objects that were used to bring the element of the unexpected to the party.

Meet the Masters with Osnat Gad, author of the book "Wedding Rings"

Osnat Gad has been a renowned leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of wedding rings for more than 25 years.  She wrote a wonderful book called Wedding Rings where history and romance comes together.  Osnat tells us how she got interested in jewelry design and shares her personal design philosophy about the perfect symbol of eternal love.  The precious circle signifies love has no beginning and no end.  The ring symbolizes unity and your commitment to marriage.

Find out where the first known exchange of rings as objects of love took place.  We discuss the evolution of the wedding ring and how this tradition got started.  Are wedding rings viewed differently today?  Listen and find out.

Every culture interprets the placement of the ring in its own way.  One longstanding tradition is that the wedding ring is worn on the third finger of the left hand.  Hear more about this custom here and around the world.

Osnat discusses different metal and stone options.  We find out more about gold and platinum.  We ask Osnat when diamonds came into style as bridal jewelry.  Learn more about yellow diamonds, a personal favorite of Osnat's.

This is an important time for communication.  Osnat recommends how couples should shop for engagement and wedding rings.  The guy isn't sure what you really want yet wants to please.  Is it okay to tell your boyfriend what you like and don't like?

Osnat shares great ideas how to adorn your personal style.  Do you want to engrave your ring with a name, a special date, a pet name or private message?  Have you considered stackable rings?  Ever hear about a torture ring?  What better way to celebrate your continuing commitment you have to one another than with an anniversary ring?

You will want to make sure your rings fit for a lifetime.  Be realistic.  Osnat tells us that your finger size may change and the possibility of re-sizing.  How should you clean your rings?  What if a diamond is loose?  Osnat has great practical advice.

Osnat's best expert advice: Hear each other.  Learn to share.  Wedding rings are the most personal gifts between two people in love.

Meet the Masters with Nicholas Daeppen, Managing Director Tentation Potel and Chabot New York

Tentation Potel & Chabot is a global catering company with offices in Paris, Moscow and St. Petersburg.  Robert Allen interviews Nicolas Daeppen in the NYC office, a boutique off-premise caterer.  Regardless of scope or location, Tentation Potel & Chabot can produce an intimate reception or tend to the details of a large, ceremonial wedding.

Nicolas was trained at the Lausanne Hotel Management School in Lausanne, Switzerland.  He came to the US in 1986 and started his career in the food and beverage industry.  He has held executive positions at the Swissotel New York, The Drake, Millenium Broadway and the Hotel Nikko San Francisco. He was General Manager and Vice President of Operations at the Helmsley Park Lane. At Tentation he combines personal service and gourmet cuisine with international style.

Nicolas tells us that your wedding can be shaped exactly the way you want.  Their philosophy is to build an experience to remember. Your personality will generate ideas.  What are your favorite foods?  restaurants?  wines?  travel adventures?  What are your ethnic backgrounds? cultures?  This fact finding process helps design a menu of distinctive food and wines.  If you are a food lover that thinks out of the box then this may be a creative alternative.

What are the current trends?  Prefer a tasting menu or family style?  Stations?  What are the benefits of off-site catering?  Time needed to plan?  Are there last minute challenges?  Special requests?  All these questions and more are answered.

Nicolas's advice to couples...find the right caterer to match your needs.  Personality and passion is key.  Spend time with the couple and take care of them.

A weekend full of memories awaits.

Our first stop takes us to the offices of Philadelpia Magazine's Elegant Wedding where we sat down with Editor Carrie Denny.  Carrie talks about the 10th anniversary issue of the magazine.   She discusses some of the wonderful landmark venues to have wedding receptions in Philadelphia.  We also talk about some of the other articles in the issue including great photo locations and how to choose flowers for day and night weddings.

Music is a critical component of any wedding celebration.  That is why we took the time to talk with Carmen Tomassetti of CTO World Entertainment Productions at his studio in Manayunk, PA.  Carmen, CEO, Event Music Producer, shared valuable information on making the right choices when booking music for your wedding.  We dispell some of the myths concerning what you need musically for your wedding.

Meet the Masters with Preston Bailey

Since I started shooting weddings in the late 80's I have always been fascinated by how floral designers were able to create such beautiful flower arrangements. Then I had the pleasure of working with Preston Bailey who brought my appreciation to a whole new level. To say that Preston Bailey is a floral designer is like saying Pavarotti is a just a singer. Preston Bailey's work in my opinion is magical. I have been lucky enough to work with Preston Bailey on many weddings over the years and I am always amazed at his talent. No one I know can create floral master pieces the way he can. His work truly takes your breath away. When Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey, Joan Rivers, Donna Karan, Liza Minnelli, Laurence Fishburne, Bill Cosby, Matt Lauer, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones wanted to celebrate the magical moments in their lives, Preston was their first call. I had the chance to interview Preston Bailey in his studio loft in New York City for this podcast. Preston shared with me his philosophy about wedding planning and design. He gives great advice on flower choices, color and texture. Preston describes his choices for particular flowers for many styles of wedding.
