Bridal Scene #27 with Holli Ehrlich and Robert Allen - Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow
Robert Allen and Holli Ehrlich chat about everything wedding in this special year end show. Just engaged or in the midst of planning your special day? Obsessed with weddings? Oh so many wedding planning ideas to talk about from video proposals, the bridal blog scene, wedding television, makeup tips from Rachael Rayâs buddy Gretta Monahan, the latest travel information, and green weddings.

We love bridal blogs because they offer a daily dose of inspiration.  The editors write in a personal style as they share creative wedding planning suggestions, great photos, product picks and give advice based on their real life experiences. We share a fun wedding trivia quiz originally seen on the Something Blue wedblog. Weddingzilla tells her readers to make plans for your marriage with the same zeal you use for wedding planning. Camilla Chaferâs Bridalwave has a pulse on whatâs happening in the world of wedding fashion, accessories, whatâs hot and whatâs not. Holli shares some recent posts and invites you to visit the Wedding Podcast  Network links page for a great guide to bridal blogs.  Donât forget to check out archives, links and blogroll.  It's a free, feel good addiction and we invite you to find your favorites.

To have or not to have pigs in blankets at your wedding. Anne Chertoff, iVillage wedding expert and editor From âI Willâ? to âI Doâ? stops in to talk about this cocktail hour favorite. AND all the way from Australia, Henry Weinreich, show host Planet Bride, joins Holli and Robert live as he offers his thoughtful wedding wisdom. You are in for a treat from two of the best in the wedding business.

Green weddings are all the rage and there are many ways that you can make a real difference to express your love for each other and the planet .  Couples can save resources and still have lots of personal style.  Holli and Robert share great ideas and tips that give you the opportunity to plan a socially responsible wedding that's both a joyous celebration and environmentally friendly.

Travel Talk - Destination: Antigua
Welcome to the premiere episode of Travel Talk only on Wedding Podcast Network.  Travel has become more popular than ever in the world of destination weddings and honeymoons because of the Internet. International resources are at our fingertips and WPN promises to bring them to you.  Let’s explore and discover different destinations around the world with experts in the travel and tourism industry – travel agents, authors, editors, event planners and newlyweds - ready to share their firsthand experience and advice.  We will provide information to help make the planning less complicated and more fun.

Where are we going today?  Paradise in the Caribbean.

Wedding Podcast Network was invited by Gordon “Butch? Stewart to the inaugural weekend celebration of the Mediterranean Village at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa. Like Sandals says “Love is all you need.? It was voted World’s Most Romantic Resort ten years in a row by the World Travel Awards and we can see why.

Hear Holli & Robert’s firsthand experience at this romantic resort and spa. There is something for everyone.  We visit the award winning Red Lane Spa exclusively at Sandals. We tell you about the variety of dining options and culinary delights, the pools and swim up bar, the white sand beach, the lighting, the gardens, the land and watersports activities, evening entertainment and so much more.  The live performances by Shaggy and Sean Paul were a special treat.  Celebrities spotted: Brooke Burke, Stacy Keibler, Teri Polo, Kimorra Simmons and Rumer Willis.

This is your opportunity to get to know Chairman & Founder Gordon “Butch? Stewart, CEO Adam Stewart, and Managing Director Jaime Stewart-McConnell.  We also had the chance to interview Chief Romance Officer Unique Vacations Joann Delgin and Cheryl Hammersmith of Hunter Hammersmith & Associates about their new Luxury Included Honeymoon brochure.  Internationally celebrated event designer and wedding planner Preston Bailey tells us about his signature WeddingMoons destination wedding packages only available at Sandals.

We were delighted to be amongst our wedding industry colleagues: Rebecca Grinnals, Sylvia and Ben Weinstock, and Diane Forden, Editor in Chief of Bridal Guide magazine. We made some new friends in the world of travel: Lorri Robbins, Publisher of Recommend magazine and Penny Sheldon, certified travel specialist.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our hosts the Stewart family and the concierge team for a very memorable Luxury Included Vacation at the Mediterranean Village at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa.

Bridal Scene LIVE - Let Them Eat Cake benefit for City of Hope

The wedding cake has been an important part of the wedding celebration since Roman Times.  The wedding cake as we know it today, with layers, supporting pillars, & fancy frosting, has its origins in the wedding cake that commemorated the marriage of one of Queen Victoria’s daughters in 1859.  Through the years, the wedding cake has become the focus of a variety of customs and traditions.  Let them Eat Cake, a wedding cake competition is Philadelphia’s largest wedding fundraiser.  Now that’s a tradition worth talking about.

Mark Kingsdorf, owner of The Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants, founded Let Them Eat Cake in honor of his mother Lois’ loving memory.  Having been directly affected by a woman living with breast cancer it was a natural for him to start the Let Them Eat Cake for City of Hope’s Cancer Center.  It is a privilege to support Mark and join forces to raise awareness and much needed funding for cancer treatment and research.

More than 40 of the Philadelphia region’s top pastry arts professionals and students competed for “top chef? at the third annual Let Them Eat Cake benefit held at the elegant Park Hyatt.  Participants displayed their single best design and provided one totally edible creation.  Cakes were judged by culinary arts and wedding industry professionals including Carrie Denny of Philadelphia Elegant Wedding magazine, Thom Cardwell from Thom's Table, Michael Giletto from Cherry Valley Country Club and Phyllis Stein-Novack of the South Philly Review. The cakes were given awards for Most Artistic, Best Tasting and Best Overall.

Wedding Podcast Network interviewed many participants including aspiring students and culinary professionals.  We asked them about their personal designs & fillings.  We also asked them what they love about designing wedding cake.  Hear some great stories behind the scenes.

Hundreds of culinary enthusiasts and brides-to-be attended this amazing evening.  Once the cakes were sampled and judged the public - brides, grooms and Philadelphia foodies - sampled the entries.  What a great opportunity for engaged couples to see, taste and be inspired by a variety of different cakes that they may choose for their own wedding day.

Check out the photos of the cakes featured at this special fundraiser in this enhanced podcast .

Meet the Masters with Osnat Gad, author of the book "Wedding Rings"

Osnat Gad has been a renowned leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of wedding rings for more than 25 years.  She wrote a wonderful book called Wedding Rings where history and romance comes together.  Osnat tells us how she got interested in jewelry design and shares her personal design philosophy about the perfect symbol of eternal love.  The precious circle signifies love has no beginning and no end.  The ring symbolizes unity and your commitment to marriage.

Find out where the first known exchange of rings as objects of love took place.  We discuss the evolution of the wedding ring and how this tradition got started.  Are wedding rings viewed differently today?  Listen and find out.

Every culture interprets the placement of the ring in its own way.  One longstanding tradition is that the wedding ring is worn on the third finger of the left hand.  Hear more about this custom here and around the world.

Osnat discusses different metal and stone options.  We find out more about gold and platinum.  We ask Osnat when diamonds came into style as bridal jewelry.  Learn more about yellow diamonds, a personal favorite of Osnat's.

This is an important time for communication.  Osnat recommends how couples should shop for engagement and wedding rings.  The guy isn't sure what you really want yet wants to please.  Is it okay to tell your boyfriend what you like and don't like?

Osnat shares great ideas how to adorn your personal style.  Do you want to engrave your ring with a name, a special date, a pet name or private message?  Have you considered stackable rings?  Ever hear about a torture ring?  What better way to celebrate your continuing commitment you have to one another than with an anniversary ring?

You will want to make sure your rings fit for a lifetime.  Be realistic.  Osnat tells us that your finger size may change and the possibility of re-sizing.  How should you clean your rings?  What if a diamond is loose?  Osnat has great practical advice.

Osnat's best expert advice: Hear each other.  Learn to share.  Wedding rings are the most personal gifts between two people in love.

Grooms with a View Show #2 with Doug Gordon, author of The Engaged Groom
Robert Allen and Doug Gordon talk about Doug's book The Engaged Groom.  Robert asks Doug what inspired him to write the book.  When Doug got engaged in August 2003 he wanted his blog to have a focus.  He was busy wedding planning so he wrote about it... engaged from the groom's point of view.

Robert asks Doug how he thinks chronicling the wedding experience helped the wedding planning process.  Doug wrote about every last detail and learned more about weddings than the average guy.  How did his wife Leora feel about this?

Robert and Doug discuss how to be an engaged groom.  Great ideas to get involved.  Be the producer, delivery guy, food tester...you like to eat, right?  Make and keep track of the budget.   Build a personalized wedding website.  What is the number one thing you can do to help to guarantee your efforts will be appreciated?  Listen to find out.

Engagements last at least 6 months. You need to stop looking at lists and swatches.  It's time for a good dose of sanity.  All couples need to hear about Doug and Leora's wedding-free zone.  This is one of many useful Engaged Groom tips you will find within this show.

Do you micromanage your wedding?  Did you actually listen to the lyrics when making your music selections?  Did you realize your favorite love song is about heartbreak?  Just because a song has a good beat doesn't mean it's appropriate at a wedding.

Great advice: a Do Not Play List.

The bachelor party discussion.  Open communication is key.  Be sensitive to your fiance's wishes and be honest.  Are you comfortable with the plans?  Be advised when you should not have your bachelor party.

Doug helps give voice to questions and concerns that many grooms share.

Newlywedcast with Hyela and Jack who had a romantic wedding at the Essex House in New York City

Are you a little older?  Do you both work?  Would you want to plan your second wedding different than your first?  Hyela does and embraces her second walk down the aisle with much happiness.  Jack, never married before, has two proposals to make.  Hear how Jack includes Sabrina, Hyela's 8 year old daughter.  Later in the show you find out that Jack selected the simple, yet sexy Elizabeth Fillmore wedding dress at Saks Fifth Avenue.  It's a red carpet winner for Hyela's big day.

Hyela and Jack have a year to plan their New York City wedding.  They know they want an intimate and elegant location.  Having no time to really work on a wedding, they hired an event coordinator, Kristin Manolis of Manolis & Company Productions.  We asked this busy, engaged couple how they found Kristin and how they worked together.

Date: Thanksgiving weekend.  Place: The Essex House.  What next?  This special couple wanted a party -not a traditional "first" wedding.    Music and entertainment was such important components that they had a separate coordinator.  Ever think of including your guests into the lyrics of a song?

Would you want someone famous to officiate?  At first Jack was not enthusiastic, but was ultimately touched by former Mayor David Dinkins' heartfelt words.  The ceremony was touching & meaningful for Hyela, Jack and their guests.

Hyela worked very closely with Kristin when designing floral centerpieces and the creative stationery system.  Individual menus had beautiful calligraphy and were presented in the round. Some really unique and innovative designs were incorporated to reflect this couple's taste and personality.

Best advice: definitely hire an event coordinator.  After interviewing three or four possible candidates Hyela and Jack were very pleased with Kristin's ability to orchestrate and produce a fabulous wedding.  They said, "Kristin does all the work.  We expressed our desires and chose exactly what we wanted .  Guaranteed you'll have less mistakes, headaches and hassles."

Do you want to leave an amazing impression on your guests?  Listen and get some terrific ideas for your wedding from Hyela and Jack.

Premier Episode of Here Come the Moms with Hosts Sharon Naylor and Holli Ehrlich
Welcome to the premier show of Here Come the Moms.

Finally, moms get their most important wedding-related questions answered!  Co-hosts, wedding author Sharon Naylor and Holli Ehrlich provide the latest information for the mothers of the bride and the mothers of the groom.  Brides and moms will learn how to work harmoniously for the perfect wedding experience.

In this episode Sharon & Holli agree that weddings are a happy business and mothers are an important component in wedding planning and ever after.  Weddings are different than five or ten years ago.  Sharon's books, The Mother-of-the-Bride Book and Mother of the Groom, were inspired by moms who are confused about their roles.  They feel caught in the middle of old world and new world traditions.  They are not sure what they are supposed to do or where they fit in.

This podcast will help all moms and step moms enjoy the excitement, the creative process, the celebration.  Planning your wedding is a momentous yet short-lived chapter of your life.  "Expectations are premeditated resentments,"  cites Sharon.  You are bound to be disappointed if you don't have realistic expectations.  Listen and learn how to communicate with your mother and the entire family.

Roles may have changed, but brides absolutely want their moms included in the wedding planning.  Brides today are older, more assertive.  Moms used to be co-planners and now they are part of a team.  Dads and grooms are more involved.  How can a bride and groom pay tribute to their extended family?  Sharon and Holli discuss this and a lot more about the importance of building and securing lasting future relationships.

Stay tuned for upcoming show topics: the new roles and rules for parents, fashion trends, etiquette Do's and Don'ts, conflict resolution tips and more.

There is a lot of fun to be had listening to Here Come the Moms, exclusively on Wedding Podcast Network.

Planet Bride with Henry and Michelle Roth - Alterations and Your Alter Ego - Inside the Fitting Room - Part 2

Henry and Michelle Roth take you behind the curtains in their NYC showroom with real bride Ruth.  She took a train from Albany, NY to discuss her concerns and fears about how the wedding dress fits.  Henry and Michelle take care of this 6' tall bride in the alterations room.  Henry and Michelle want this bride and brides everywhere to be happy with their choice.  Will the dress that Ruth likes accommodate her height and torso?  Is this the dress she will ultimately purchase?

Many questions are asked of Ruth - Are you nervous about today's appointment?  What type of wedding are you having?  Did you use the Internet when looking for the gown?  Did you go to any sample sales?  Did you bring a shoe with the right heel height and lingerie?  Are you happy with the proportion of the bodice?  What are you most conscious of? When you try on a sample size can you vision how it will look once fitted?   What does the bride want to hide on her body the most?  Why are you uncertain?

Can every bride have a better shape and a more flattering, slimming result with a proper fitting?  We learn about measurements, the usage of corsets and the proper hemline.

Some of the important alteration lessons in this podcast are:

Your consciousness about your body must be communicated honestly.  It's all about the dress fitting correctly.  When you look at a photo on a website you are looking at a runway model wearing a dress that has been altered to fit perfectly.  Numbers are only important to the seamstress.  They are irrelevant to the bride.  All that matters is that the bride feels good.

Will Ruth find the gown of her dreams?  What are the pitfalls of alterations?  What do you need to know when you walk into the alterations room?

This and much more on Part 3.  Stay tuned.

Meet the Masters with Nicholas Daeppen, Managing Director Tentation Potel and Chabot New York

Tentation Potel & Chabot is a global catering company with offices in Paris, Moscow and St. Petersburg.  Robert Allen interviews Nicolas Daeppen in the NYC office, a boutique off-premise caterer.  Regardless of scope or location, Tentation Potel & Chabot can produce an intimate reception or tend to the details of a large, ceremonial wedding.

Nicolas was trained at the Lausanne Hotel Management School in Lausanne, Switzerland.  He came to the US in 1986 and started his career in the food and beverage industry.  He has held executive positions at the Swissotel New York, The Drake, Millenium Broadway and the Hotel Nikko San Francisco. He was General Manager and Vice President of Operations at the Helmsley Park Lane. At Tentation he combines personal service and gourmet cuisine with international style.

Nicolas tells us that your wedding can be shaped exactly the way you want.  Their philosophy is to build an experience to remember. Your personality will generate ideas.  What are your favorite foods?  restaurants?  wines?  travel adventures?  What are your ethnic backgrounds? cultures?  This fact finding process helps design a menu of distinctive food and wines.  If you are a food lover that thinks out of the box then this may be a creative alternative.

What are the current trends?  Prefer a tasting menu or family style?  Stations?  What are the benefits of off-site catering?  Time needed to plan?  Are there last minute challenges?  Special requests?  All these questions and more are answered.

Nicolas's advice to couples...find the right caterer to match your needs.  Personality and passion is key.  Spend time with the couple and take care of them.

Newlywedcast with Lisa and Matt who got married at Tavern on the Green

Lisa and Matt tell us how they met and share their proposal story.  We asked them what the first thing they did to start planning their wedding.  When?  Where?  Warm climate please!  If it couldn't be barefoot on the beach then a Sunday afternoon in New York City would be perfect.

Location:  Tavern on the Green - a New York institution overlooking Central Park.  Built to house sheep in 1870, the restaurant became known as Tavern on the Green in 1934.  The setting is perfect for photos.  Lisa and Matt knew that this beautiful venue would be a place they would be able to celebrate anniversaries and special occasions for many years to come.

Four months until the wedding and Lisa needs a dress.  The third dress at the first store?  Did we hear right?  This happy bride-to-be shares her best advice on where to look for your wedding gown.

The ceremony took place in an outdoor garden at Tavern on the Green where 100 guests attended.  Their dog Maggie was the ring bearer.  Lisa and Matt discuss the flowers, the music and the great personalized wedding favors created by their company The Hampton Popcorn Company.   It's a keepsake to remember the day long after the delicious popcorn is eaten.

Rave reviews from their family and friends.  Guests cited that this wedding day was "theme"  Lisa and Matt tell couples in the midst of planning their wedding to be realistic and not worry about every miniscule detail.  They constantly reminded themselves not to get carried away and did their very best to stay true to their relationship.
