Destination: Catherine's Parents' House in Thousand Oaks, California.

Are you considering getting married at home? Our featured bride Catherine tells us about her destination wedding in Southern California and how much she loved everything about her special day in the perfect location. Learn how this couple mixed their cultures and family traditions and incorporated many fantastic details that reflect their personality. Catherine happily shares her love story and wedding planning experience in this enhanced podcast with photos.

How do you best plan a wedding long distance in six months? Catherine had a vision, but knew she would need help. Catherine residing in Boston worked closely with wedding consultant Jeannie Ward, owner of Wedding Jeannie, based in California. Catherine trusted Jeannie, the "home wedding expert" with her creativity, knowledge and talent, to assemble an amazing team, including her favorite caterer, rental company and photographer and assist in anything else Catherine wanted. Jeannie even helped Catherine find the perfect wedding dress in Boston. Together with Salil they created a modern, relaxed and sophisticated backyard wedding on one of the hottest days of the year. The bride, groom and their guests from India and California had a wonderful time.

You will be inspired by the special, thoughtful and out of the ordinary things Catherine had at her dream wedding at home. No cookie cutter wedding for Catherine and Salil. This unique ceremony and reception is a memorable mini-cupcake winner!

Destination wedding author and expert, Lisa Light, discusses why destination weddings are so popular today. Lisa’s book, DESTINATION BRIDE: A Complete Guide to Planning Your Wedding Anywhere in the World covers diverse locations and venues in countries all over the world. You will find out how Lisa got started in the business and why she loves planning international events. Lisa says, “Couples have a desire to plan on their own, but are overwhelmed. If you know how to do it you can do it anywhere around the world”.

Lisa offers insider knowledge and answers important questions about planning a wedding away from your hometown. How many guests would you like to invite to your wedding? Do your family and friends share the same vision you have? What do you need to consider when planning a realistic budget? How do you determine your dream destination? Should couples visit the destination in advance? Is the honeymoon combined with the destination wedding? What are some hot spots to have your destination wedding? What is the one island you should pay attention to for a tropical beach wedding? What about a city wedding? What’s involved in terms of having a legally binding wedding outside of the United States? Does the wedding always happen on the weekend? Is travel insurance important?

How did our featured newlyweds Kaylynn & Bill meet and fall in love? Want to hear a really fantastic surprise birthday trip proposal? Why get married in Las Vegas? How did they start the wedding planning process from Seattle and discover that they needed help? Kaylynn had a specific vision for her wedding and toured many hotels and locations they considered for their wedding. She knew she wanted a coordinator in charge of the many details of the day and she lucked out finding and hiring Tracey Kumer-Moore of Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge. Connecting with your wedding planner is important and priceless. The groom totally agrees that a planner is an advocate for your interests with your vendors and they take care of things you probably have not thought about. They worked with wonderful wedding professionals selected from many of Tracey’s references. Kaylynn and Bill realized throughout their 10 month engagement that Tracey helped lessen the overwhelming stress and we all know how much that matters!

Their September wedding took place at the Wynn Las Vegas. They wanted an intimate evening with friends and family to celebrate their union. Were things planned for their guests for the weekend? Kaylynn talks about finding her dream Lazaro wedding gown at a beautiful boutique in Seattle that coincidentally all of the women in her family had gotten their gowns. Kaylynn knew her look was perfect. She describes it as Timeless + Glitzy = Las Vegas Romantic. Hear how they made their twilight ceremony meaningful. Are you thinking of having a half-time wardrobe change? Kaylynn changes into an Alice + Olivia cocktail dress – what fun!

Their vision was achieved via the décor. They wanted an elegant setting so they set up a few lounge spaces, used the outdoor patio, and was surrounded by lots of candles and flowers. Uplights and white chiffon fabric and votives were utilized in the LaTache ballroom. They had a band and DJ with a really cool black dance floor. Learn about their photographer and the shots Kaylynn & Bill really wanted to capture the energy & life of the party. Bill was in charge of food and booze. No traditional sit down dinner for them. No seating charts. Helen from the Wynn helped design creative menu elements for their cocktail party even though they didn’t eat much of the food. Sound familiar?

Kaylynn suggests all couples should do something magical right after the ceremony. Can you guess what she is referring to? Listen and find out. What were their most memorable & favorite moments about the wedding? What was the best money ever spent? Their motto was to have fun and enjoy themselves. Their guests are still raving about their fabulous Vegas wedding at the Wynn. This Newlywedcast is inspiring and full of love.

This Newlywedcast show was especially requested by Amy's best friend Jeni who lives in Alaska.  Unfortunately Jeni could not attend the wedding and wanted the next best thing to being there. Today you will hear about Amy and Chris’ love and wedding story. From promise ring to engagement ring Chris surprises Amy and proposes after dating for nine months. Amy says yes and the planning begins.

Eleven months until their October wedding. Nothing came fast for this picky bride. Ten venues, 85 wedding dresses, and still shopping. Theme: Italian style wedding in Spokane, Washington. Did Amy work with a wedding coordinator? Want to do something different than a traditional unity candle that offers great meaning? What happens when your officiant forgets that you wrote your own vows? Things happen for a reason and Amy didn't let it ruin her day.

Learn more about their family, the bridal party and a flower girl that gets sick. How involved was the groom? Who did Amy turn to for advice when she needed help making decisions? Amy and Chris highly recommend a romantic honeymoon in Rome, Italy.

Thank you Jeni for being such a special listener in Alaska.  This show is dedicated to you.
